Objective:
Hong Kong is one of the pioneers of smart
city development in Asia. Since 1998, the Hong Kong Government has adopted
various ICT projects, with policies like the Digital 21 Strategy to more
effectively serve the varied needs of the Government, businesses, and citizens
through electronic channels. Over the decades, the Government has made
considerable efforts in building Hong Kong into a smart city, as demonstrated
in projects like Energizing Kowloon East, which is on its way to becoming a
"Smart City district" and having recently launched a demonstration of
a "Smart Parking" mobile app in July 2016. Hong Kong is a robust
knowledge-based economy and has the full potential to be developed into a
world-class smart city, with a professional and efficient workforce,
enterprising entrepreneurs, a high-quality education system, sound legal and
banking systems, and last but not least, a stable government capable of
managing various infrastructure and development projects. Smart city
should be people-centric. It should be built upon the needs of the people and
the benefits should be seen and felt by residents and visitors.
We would like to invite distinguished
guests to share their knowledge and knowhow in smart city development and
applications through the seminar. We do
believe all participants could be benefit through attending the seminar.
