“Made in Hong Kong” is seldom seen since the 90s, as most of the Hong Kong factories have been moved to Mainland China. Have you ever imagined that nowadays a welding process of pipes can be made locally?

O-Link Limited has set up a new Robotic Welding Process Factory in Sheung Shui. It contains the works for ductile Pipe Flange welding for drinking water, works for A/C water chiller pipe work by various advance machines like 11 Axis CNC robot Welding Machine, CNC Hydro Pressure Testing Machine, etc. All members interested in manufacturing processes and advanced tooling are welcome to join the visit.

The Manufacturing & Industrial Division organized a technical visit to O-Link Limited Factory at Sheung Shui on 13 July 2019. A total of 25 members joined the half-day visit.                                                                                                                             

The Chairman of the Division, Ir Dr Eric LIU commenced the visit with a heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Carlos Lee, the CEO of O-Matic Intelligent Robot Limited. 

During the guided tour, the participants gained an in-depth knowledge of the Ductile Pile Flange welding work and A/C water chiller pipework carried out by the Factory.  Mr. Carlos Lee delivered a detailed presentation on the machine mechanism and the work processes. The participants highly appreciated the innovative design of the processes with robotic applications, which were mostly developed by Carlos. One of the high-technology machines is the Numerical Control Band Saw which is able to cut high variety of materials of round shape tubes with high precision. Operation of other machines were also visualized, covering the CNC Lathe Machine with maximum turning 800 mm, 11 Axis CNC Robot Welding Machine with maximum material handling of 600 mm diameter and 6000 mm length, and the CNC Hydro Pressure Testing Machine with auto air bleeding. With lively work demonstration, participants were able to acquire a deeper understanding of the manufacturing process and also the potential business development of the pre-fabricated industry. After the tour, a discussion session with Mr. Carlos Lee on the welding process of flange was conducted which further explored the technical operation and machine utilization, coupled with the quality of the welding treatment. 

The visit was concluded with a group photo. All participants treasured this informative and inspiring visit. On behalf of the Division, we would like to express our sincere thanks to O-Link Limited for making the visit a great success.
