When Electronics Meets Medical Science – A case study of biomedical research and development, from concept to business launch

Date, time & venue

2017-08-11;6:30-8:00pm;James Chiu & Dragages Rooms – 9/F

Co-organized by

Manufacturing & Industrial Division

Biomedical Division

Programme Highlights

Lab-On-Chip (LOC) technology integrates one or several laboratory tests on a single chip of only millimeters to a few square centimeters to achieve a high-throughput screening. LOC enables us to deliver accurate assays with extremely small fluid volumes down to pico-liters, therefore, a microfluidic LOC platform was the dream device in environmental and biomedical sectors. However, most of the LOC applications were turned out to be a “research project”. Only few of them had successfully commercialized.

A successful case of commercialized LOC will be discussed with us in this seminar. Mr. William Yam (Founder of Sanwa BioTech Limited) will share his experience in the journey of biomedical research and development, from concept to business launch. Sanwa BioTech has successfully developed a fully-functional biomedical “Point of Care” diagnostic system.

Language: Cantonese (supplemented with English Terms)

Speaker

Mr. William Yim, the President of Sanwa Technologies Limited, the President of Hong Kong Critical Components Manufacturers Association, et al.
