Welcome to the website of the Manufacturing and Industrial (MI) Division!!

It is my great honour and pleasure to be elected as Chairman of the MI Division for Session 2019/20. Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all past chairmen, committee members, volunteers, industry partners and students for their unfailing support and valuable contributions to the Division in the previous years.

The MI Division has a very wide engineering spectrum that most of our members have crossover professions with other stakeholders of the engineering and technology sectors.  The nature of our major activities ties with the learned society functions. Various activities have been organized in the past to enhance the engineering expertise. These activities include conferences, seminars, technical visits and project competitions. To improve the link with the Mainland and nearby countries, activities, visits and exchange discussions have also been held with engineering bodies across the border

Being a division of HKIE, the MI Division has actively participated in most HKIE functions. We actively nominate representatives to sit in the major committees and boards of HKIE in which our contribution is made. The MI Division also encourages engineers, particularly young engineers and students, to contribute their expertise to the societies and to undertake activities in the local and regional communities that will enhance the development of knowledge applicable to the MI Discipline.

The MI Division gears towards promoting the use of smart manufacturing technology and management practices, facilitating exchange of information and ideas among members and societies, and raising the standing and visibility of the MI engineering profession.  To ensure the success of the MI Division, your active participation and support would be much appreciated.  I sincerely look forward to seeing you all in our coming events and activities!
